GRAZ, FEBRUARY 5, 2024. International technology group ANDRITZ has successfully started up a new high-capacity chemi-thermomechanical pulping system supplied to Wuzhou Special Paper (Jiangxi) Co. Ltd. in Hukou County, Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province, China. This is the largest fiberline worldwide with only one high-consistency refiner as the heart of the process.

GRAZ, JANUARY 30, 2024.  Taiwanese tissue producer Yuen Foong Yu Consumer Products Co., Ltd. has successfully started up a new ANDRITZ PrimeLineCOMPACT tissue production line at its mill in Chingshui.

Jan. 29, 2024 - Shandong Huatai Paper and Voith Paper on January 16 successfully started up PM 11 in the eastern Chinese province of Shandong. PM 11, a former newsprint machine, was successfully rebuilt for the production of high-quality graphic paper. The machine's web width is 10.2 meters and the design speed 1,800 m/min.

With the help of leading Voith technologies, the annual capacity of the rebuilt PM 11 can be increased from 400,000 to 520,000 tons.

GRAZ, JANUARY 26, 2024.  Guangdong Hengan Paper Co., Ltd. has successfully started up the two new ANDRITZ PrimeLine tissue machines at its mill in Yunfu, Guangdong, China. Hengan has now 15 ANDRITZ tissue machines in operation.

The two machines of the type PrimeLineCOMPACT M 1600 have a design speed of 1,700 m/min and a working width of 3.65 m. They produce top-quality tissue for facial, toilet, handkerchief, and napkin grades from virgin market pulp.

The Fedrigoni Group said that it finalized the acquisition of the entire share capital of Arjowiggins HKK3 Limited (Arjowiggins), owner of the Arjowiggins China Group, on Dec. 29, 2023.

The deal concludes an agreement that Fedrigoni reached with Arjowiggins in February 2023, whereby Fedrigoni entered a manufacturing partnership with the Quzhou mill — a specialty paper producer of translucent papers in Quzhou, Zhejiang province, China.

Valmet will supply key technology to Shandong Jin Tian He Paper's board machine PM 13 food grade folding boxboard line in China. The delivery will include headboxes, a former and press section, finishing technologies, automation and services.

The value of the order will not be disclosed, but such an order is typically worth of EUR 20 million to EUR 30 million, Valmet said.

Valmet has received an order from Yueyang Forest & Paper Co., Ltd. to supply an IQ Web Inspection System for its paper machine 8 (PM 8).

PM 8 also has been equipped with a Valmet IQ Web Monitoring System, which was installed in 2019.

According to Valmet, upon the implementation of the new IQ Web Inspection System, both machine vision systems will improve the operating efficiency and optimize the final paper quality of the PM 8.

GRAZ, DECEMBER 18, 2023. Shandong Huatai Paper has successfully started up a mechanical pulping line rebuilt by ANDRITZ at the mill in Dongying, Shandong Province, China. The rebuild not only increased the line’s capacity from 100,000 t/a to 300,000 t/a, making it the world’s largest mechanical pulping line for printing and writing paper production. It also considerably reduced the line’s energy consumption and increased its pulp yield and quality.

Isola Castle Ltd, a company indirectly wholly owned by Asia Pacific Resources International Limited (APRIL), has today announced that it will make a pre-conditional public offer to the shareholders of Vinda International Holdings Limited (Vinda) to acquire 100% of the shares in Vinda for a price per share of HKD 23.50. Essity supports the offer and has signed an irrevocable undertaking to accept the offer in respect of all of its 51.59% shareholding in Vinda. The price in the public offer will correspond to an equity value of Vinda of approximately HKD 28.3bn (SEK 37.3bn).

GRAZ, DECEMBER 13, 2023. International technology group ANDRITZ has received an order from Dezhou Taiding New Material Science and Technology Co., Ltd., China, to deliver a second chemi-thermomechanical (P-RC APMP) line to the mill in Pingyuan County, Dezhou City, Shandong Province, China. The ANDRITZ fiberline already installed at the mill supplies the company’s paper machines producing printing and writing paper and board grades. It has been operating successfully since 2021.

The Chinese company relies on A.Celli Paper’s technology for the sixth time by ordering a new rewinder for special papers. The business partnership between A.Celli Paper and Qifeng Group, which began more than 10 years ago, will be strengthened even more thanks to the order placed in October for a new E-WIND® P100 paper rewinder, the sixth purchased over the years.

Qifeng Group, a leading company in the production and sales of decorative paper, will install the rewinder in its No 27 special paper production line located at the Guigang plant in the Guangxi Autonomous Region.

GRAZ, DECEMBER 4, 2023.  International technology group ANDRITZ has started up a state-of-the-art, highly efficient fiberline and lime kiln plant at Nanning Sun Paper’s pulp and paper mill in Nanning, Guangxi Province, China.

Zang Zijia, Project Director, Nanning Sun Paper, said, "Start-up of the fiberline and lime kiln went very smoothly. The project progressed quickly, the start-up test was completed within one month after feeding, and now the equipment is running stably. We will definitely continue working with ANDRITZ in the future to further increase our capacity and efficiency."

A.Celli welcomes Jiangxi Five Star Paper Co., Ltd., a prominent Chinese producer of specialty papers, among the companies who decided to rely on its winding and rewinding solutions.

The machine chosen by Jiangxi Five Star is an E-WIND® P100 paper rewinder designed for 50-120 gsm decorative paper, capable of processing rolls with a width of 3900 mm at a design speed of 2000 mpm.

International technology group ANDRITZ has signed an agreement with Flowserve Corporation based in Texas, USA, to take over its NAF AB business.

NAF AB engineers, designs and builds Flowserve’s NAF control valve portfolio. It is a leading supplier with long-standing experience in providing process control valves for pulp and paper and other related industries. With 50 employees at the facility in Linköping, Sweden, it has been a successful provider of process control valves for more than 100 years.

China Graphic Papers Exports

In June 2023, approximately 258K tons of graphic papers were exported from China; declining by -7.2% compared with the previous month. Overall, exports saw a mild decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2023 when exports increased by 8.6% against the previous month. In value terms, graphic papers exports declined to $269M (IndexBox estimates) in June 2023. In general, exports saw a pronounced contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in November 2022 when exports increased by 17% against the previous month.

International technology group ANDRITZ will relocate and upgrade a fiberline for Yueyang Forest & Paper to produce premium quality fibers for its new paper machine.

The P-RC APMP (Pre-Conditioning Refiner Chemical Alkaline Peroxide Mechanical Pulp) line was originally supplied by ANDRITZ in 2011 to the mill in Yuanjiang city, Hunan province. ANDRITZ will now transfer it to Yueyang city, Hunan province, where it will process mixed hardwood for the production of printing and writing papers.

Valmet will deliver key pulp mill technology to Shandong Huatai Paper's new pulp mill in the Shandong province in China. Valmet's delivery includes cooking and fiberline, a recovery boiler, a lime kiln and a lime mud filter.

The new pulp mill will produce 700,000 tonnes per year and is scheduled to start up at the end of 2024.

Liansheng Pulp & Paper has successfully started up two ANDRITZ tissue machines including stock preparation and automation systems at its mill in Zhangzhou, Fujian Province, China.

The tissue machines of the type PrimeLineTM W 2000 have a design speed of 2,000 m/min and a working width of 5.65 m. Both are equipped with energy-saving components like 20 ft. PrimeDry Steel Yankees and steam-heated hoods.

According to the Brazilian Tree Industry (Ibá), Brazil's pulp production for the first quarter of 2023 increased by 2.6%, while the volume of exports grew by 12.9% compared to the same period in 2022.

Paper production hit 2.7 million tons in the first quarter.

"The cultivated trees sector continues in its purpose of providing environmentally friendly alternatives for Brazil and the world," said Ambassador José Carlos da Fonseca Jr., Ibá's executive director. "The advance in pulp production is an example of this commitment.

The Chinese company will equip its new PM13 dedicated to fluting paper production with a new A.Celli E-WIND® P100 paper rewinder.

Shandong Renfeng joins the list of increasingly numerous Chinese users of A.Celli solutions thanks to the order of a new P100 paper rewinder for the Huantai City plant, in the Shandong province.

This key component, to be delivered in the fourth quarter of 2023, is designed to process Jumbo rolls of 60-120 gsm fluting paper with a diameter of 3800 mm and width of 6700 mm at a design speed of 2500 mpm.

The E-WIND® P100 paper rewinder will be used in the testliner production line located in Zhoukou, Henan province.

The Chinese paper producer Henan Longyuan Paper chooses A.Celli’s rewinding technology for their latest project, thus joining the numerous roster of companies that relies on the E-WIND® product range.

This specific E-WIND® P100 paper rewinder will be used to process Jumbo rolls of 90-140 gsm testliner with a diameter of 3800 mm and a width of 6800 mm at a design speed of 2600 mpm.

Valmet will deliver key technologies and automation systems for Henan Longyuan Paper's new PM7 testliner line at their mill in Henan province in China. The order also includes a quality control system for the rebuild of their PM3 machine.

Valmet's delivery includes a bottom dilution headbox and a Tri-nip press section and an automation package, including Valmet DNA machine controls (MCS), IQ Quality control system (QCS), dilution profiler for headbox, steam profiler, as well as Valmet services.

ANDRITZ has received an order from Minhan Paper Joint Stock Company to supply a complete OCC line for its mill in Van Lam, Hung Yen Province, Vietnam.

ANDRITZ will deliver the complete OCC line – from pulping to approach flow – including fiber recovery and also broke and reject handling. ANDRITZ will install several of its innovative Prime stock preparation products, such as a PrimeSolve LC system for optimum slushing at lowest fiber loss and efficient reject removal. PrimeScreens X with new PrimeRotors will enable highly efficient screening and fractionation at significantly lower energy consumption.

In August, the Chinese paper manufacturer Shanying Suzhou Paper commissioned Voith to supply two XcelLine paper machines with comprehensive digitalization and automation solutions as well as services and spare parts packages for its new site in in Zhongying, Anhui Province, in eastern China. As the leading full-line supplier to the paper industry, Voith will supply the entire lines.

Valmet will supply the Cheng Loong Binh Duong Paper Company with key process technology for its new containerboard machine 23 (BM 23) at the company's Ben Cat mill in Binh Duong Province in Vietnam. Valmet's delivery includes approach flow systems, headboxes, a press section, a sizer, process air systems, a winder, automation systems and Industrial Internet solutions.

ANDRITZ has received an order from Yuen Foong Yu Consumer Products Co., Ltd. to supply a PrimeLineCOMPACT M1600 tissue production line (PM10) to its mill located in Chingshui, Taiwan, Republic of China.

The new tissue machine will feature a design capacity of 112 air-dried metric tons per day, a width of 3.65 meters and a maximum operating speed of 1,650 m/min. The line will produce household paper, such as toilet paper, napkins, handkerchiefs, and facial tissue.

The two E-WIND® P100 will be installed downstream of the PM6 located in Guanghan City to process fluting, testliner and kraftliner paper. A.Celli welcomes Sichuan Huaqiao Fenghuang Paper among its partners for a project that involve two E-WIND® P100 for the PM6 line located in Guanghan City, in the Sichuan province.

ANDRITZ has received an order from Dongfang Smart Energy Co., Ltd. of Shaanxi Power Generation Group to supply two paper machine approach flow systems and LC (low consistency) refiners to its mill in Wugong County, Xianyang City, Shaanxi Province, China. Start-up is scheduled for the second quarter of 2023.

Valmet will supply two Valmet IntelliTissue 1600 tissue machines for Liaoning Yusen tissue mill located in the county of Tai'an, Liaoning province, China.

The value of the order will not be disclosed, but Valmet said the total value of an order of this type and delivery scope is typically around EUR 6 - 8 million.

The two new tissue production lines will produce high quality tissue with a basis weight range of 12.5 -31.3 g/m2, a design speed of 1600m/min and a reel trim of 3500mm. Combined, the new machines will increase Liaoning Yusen's annual tissue production capacity by 60,000 tons.

At the beginning of June, the XcelLine PM 6 supplied by Voith was successfully started up at the Jinzhong site in the central Chinese province of Shanxi by the paper manufacturer Shanxi Qiangwei Paper. As the leading full-line supplier, Voith delivered the entire production line.

The machine has a wire width of 7 m, a design speed of 1,200 m/min and produces plasterboard liner and containerboard with a basis weight of 90 to 160 gsm. An annual production of over 300,000 tons is possible. Voith’s latest solutions enable highly efficient, resource-saving and sustainable production.
