Jingxing Paper to Invest USD299 Million in Malaysia Paper Mill

Zhejiang Jingxing Paper has unveiled more details of its pulp and paper making project in Malaysia.
It will invest USD299 million in it , the Jiaxing-based paper maker announced yesterday, following up its initial disclosure in mid-January.
Tentatively to be located in Selangor on the east coast of the Malay Peninsula, the plant has good transport links and is a mere 43 kilometers and 52 km away from the country's largest terminal Port Klang and the Kuala Lumpur International Airport, it said.

Shanying International Renames Kentucky Paper Mill as Phoenix Paper Wickliffe

Shanying International has renamed its first pulp and paper mill in the U.S., Phoenix Paper Wickliffe LLC.
Shanying International, the third-largest producer of containerboard in China, purchased the idled Wickliffe, Kentucky mill earlier this year from Verso Corporation for $16 million. The deal was conducted on behalf of Shanying by China-based investment group, Global Win Wickliffe LLC.

Four Toscotec-supplied tissue machines began production at APP’s Oki mill in Indonesia

Asia Pulp and Paper (APP) has begun using four AHEAD-2.0L PRODERGY tissue machines at its OKI mill, in South Sumatra, Indonesia, as part of a series of AHEAD-2.0L PRODERGY tissue machines.
These four machines, included in a major contract between Toscotec and APP, started production ahead of schedule, in just 60 days between August 14th and October 14th 2018.
Stora Enso to develop straws based on biocomposite material

The demo, which targets production on an industrial scale, is designed to replace traditional plastic straws with renewable ones. The straws are based on Sulapac’s biocomposite material – made of wood and natural binders – designed to be recycled via industrial composting and biodegrade in marine environments.

The European Commission (EC) approved the acquisition of Brazil's pulp manufacturer Fibria by Suzano pursuant to the EU Merger Regulation. The competition authority says that the decision is conditional on Suzano's full compliance with the commitments offered by it.

Koppers enters into special purchase order at subsidiary in China

Koppers Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Koppers Holdings Inc., recently announced that the company's 75-percent owned subsidiary, Koppers (Jiangsu) Carbon Chemical Company Limited (KJCC) is providing soft pitch product to its major customer in China under a special purchase order in an effort to manage product inventories at the plant in the fourth quarter. The special purchase order will expire at the end of this year. This purchase order is not intended to either resolve or affect the previously disclosed contractual dispute between KJCC and its major customer.
